Year 1 - University of York
Welcome to University of York Class!
The year 1 class is named University of York. The Class Teacher is Miss Williams and the Teaching Assistant is Mrs Herbert, we also work alongside Mrs Cherry.
We will try to channel our best selves and embrace every challenge with positivity this year. We will use this to influence our work and add a touch of uniqueness and creativity to every piece of work we do.
This year we will be covering a wide range of topics many of which will be inspired by our class texts.
Our writing topics this year will be inspired by books such as The Gingerbread Man, Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Mama Panyas Pancakes, Lila and the Secret of Rain, Traction Man and Katie and the Sunflowers.
In writing we will be covering a variety of topics including story sequencing, setting descriptions, character descriptions and diary entries.
In Maths we will be looking at a variety of topics including place value, addition and subtraction and 2D and 3D shapes.
Homework will remain the same each week with one piece of work to be completed from each of the three study books. As well as reading a minimum of five times a week, children are expected to practise their spellings. Spelling tests will take place every Tuesday and new homework will be given out every Wednesday.
We are extremely excited to be working with the children and will have a packed year full of fun, learning and new experiences. We look forward to helping you all strive to achieve your goals, dreams and preparing you for the future.
Thank you for your continued support. If you wish to make an appointment to see Miss Williams or Mrs Herbert, please do so via the school office.
