Sports and PE

Sport:  At Blenheim, we believe that Physical Education and School Sport provides children with the opportunity to develop their physical and social skills, their understanding of how to lead a healthy lifestyle, whilst doing so with enjoyment. At Blenheim, we aim to provide all of our children with the opportunity to develop as young sportsmen and sportswomen by building our curriculum based on the following threshold concepts;

  • Leading a healthy lifestyle.
  • Developing sport leadership.
  • Acquiring, applying and evaluating skills and techniques.

We believe that Physical Education and School Sport is about more than just being confident in one sport and we aim to deliver a curriculum that develops a variety of skills from the moment they join our school in Early Years to when they leave in Year 6. Our curriculum provides pupils with an understanding of the importance of physical activity on their physical, mental and social well-being. Through good physical education, whole school values and whole child approach, we aim to nurture confident, resilient children who will strive for their personal best with energy, creativity and a never give up attitude.

At Blenheim, our aim is to ensure that our delivery of physical education allows all children to have the skills and mind-set to leave primary school with the capabilities to be successful in their sporting challenges and active lifestyles at secondary school, then leading into lifelong sporting participation. We strive to educate both our children and families to develop a greater understanding on how to live healthy lifestyles and make healthy choices in a harmonious working environment, treating others how we expect them to treat us.

Within our curriculum, we also look to provide our pupils with a sense of ambition and aspiration by highlighting a variety of sporting role models from a variety of different backgrounds and by developing our links with the local community.

At Blenheim, we listen to our children’s wants and needs and provide them with a range of active learning opportunities before, during and after school. We want to aid our children in obtaining the values and skills to celebrate and respect the success of others as well as modesty celebrating their own successes, therefore they are also able to show respect, consideration and sensitivity to the belief of others.

We are also proud to offer an inclusive and diverse extracurricular timetable that provides each child with the opportunity to an enriching Physical Education experience through a wide range of activities and an opportunity to compete against other pupils and schools.
